What happens when I visit?
Here at the Relaxation Centre we pride ourselves on the friendly and peaceful atmosphere, and we want you to enjoy your visit. When you arrive you will be given a guided tour of the facilities or directed to the treatment floor .If you need any further help with any of the facilities or guidance on the treatments on offer, please feel free to ask a member of staff for assistance.
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are Women Only days in the spa, and we have a Couples day on Sundays. Please be advised that on these days swimwear is optional. Tuesdays and Thursdays are open to all, and swimwear is compulsory.
Meditative Monday is an especially quiet day (in terms of noise). No group bookings are taken, and the atmosphere is designed to be even calmer than on other days. We ask that talking is kept to an absolute minimum, and ask that you visit on another day if this is difficult.
You may come on your own or with friends. If you are coming as a group of six or more please see ‘Can I bring a group’ below for more information.
We have separate changing rooms, one for women and one for men, and a locker is provided free of charge. There are showers in each of the changing rooms, and also in the spa. Hairdryers are also provided.
What should I bring?
On arrival, we provide each person using the facilities with a towel, a robe and a locker. (Extra towels and bathrobes are available for hire.) Some people like to bring flip-flops or sandals for use outdoors.
You might also like to bring your favourite toiletries to use at the end of your stay. However, a shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided in all the changing room showers. Perhaps you'd like to bring a good book to read whilst you're here. On Sundays we provide a selection of newspapers.
You may want to bring something to eat or drink (see ‘Do you sell food or drink?’ below).
Is it a membership club?
No, the Relaxation Centre is open to all and no membership is required.
Do you have a gym?
No, we don’t have a gym. Many of the facilities and activities at the Relaxation Centre will help you live a healthier life, but the focus is and always will be on helping you relax.
How long can I stay?
From Sunday to Thursday you can spend as much or as little time in the spa facilities as you like. The average stay is 3-4 hours.
On Fridays and Saturdays you are required to book one of the four-hour blocks (this is due to the larger number of visitors on these days): 9am-1pm, 1.30-5.30pm and 6-10pm.
Is everything really included in the price?
All the spa facilities are included in the price, except for sessions in the floatation room and in the infra-red sauna.
Treatments, such as massages, are also charged separately.
We even supply a lovely fluffy white towel, a robe and a locker for your exclusive use during your visit!
Do you sell food and drink? Can I bring my own?
We sell a range of hot and cold drinks, ice cream, toast and toasted teacakes.
You are welcome to bring your own picnic or packed lunch to eat either in the garden or relaxation lounge.
There is also a good salad and sandwich bar nearby (open 8am-3.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am-3pm Saturdays).
Do you sell alcohol? Can I bring my own?
No, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.
I am pregnant. Can I come?
If you are planning to use the spa facilities it's a good idea to consult your doctor or midwife to be on the safe side. Some risk is associated with overheating, and use of the jets in the pools.
All treatments are fine except for Thai Yoga Massage and Hot Stone Massage. We have many practitioners who have trained in working with pregnant clients. Please mention you are pregnant when booking so that we can allocate a suitably trained practitioner.
The floatation tank is an ideal experience when you are pregnant.
Where is the Relaxation Centre?
We are in a beautiful Georgian townhouse in a quiet residential street at:
The Relaxation Centre
9 All Saints Road
Clifton
Bristol BS8 2JG
If you need directions to find us, please see the maps on the ‘Contact’ page
Is there parking?
We don’t have our own parking. However, we are on a non-metered residential street so you should be able to find a space, although this can sometimes mean a drive around the block. For this reason we recommend you aim to arrive 15 minutes early for any treatments you have booked. If you are not successful in finding a space there is a reasonably priced car park at the Sainsbury supermarket on Whiteladies Road, access via Alma Road.
Can I bring a group?
We accept bookings for groups of 6 up to a maximum of 12 people on all days except our quiet day, ‘Meditative Monday’.
All group bookings require a £100 non-refundable deposit.
Please nominate one person from your as the group leader and ensure all communication regarding your group booking happens through them.
Friday and Saturday group bookings must be paid in full in advance, including any treatments. Please also choose one time slot from the three available on Fridays and Saturdays: 9am-1pm, 1.30pm-5.30pm, or 6pm-10pm.
Once you have paid your deposit, we will send you a booking form for you to list those coming, and to indicate what treatments members of your group would like. Please return this as soon as possible to ensure that your group gets its first choice treatments
Once we have received your booking form we will send you confirmation and an invoice. The balance needs to be paid in full (in one payment) at least 10 days before your visit, at which time it also becomes non-refundable. All Friday and Saturday group bookings are dealt with during office hours (Monday - Friday 9.30am-5.30pm).
Call us on 0117 970 6616 during office hours (Mon-Fri 9.30am-5.30pm) to make a booking or to discuss your options.
Please make sure your group is aware of the peaceful environment that others are seeking in coming here.
A note about Women Only days
'Women Only' applies to the use of the spa facilities and the floatation room but not to individual treatment sessions such as massage. Men can come for such treatments any day of the week. Please also be aware that some male practitioners give sessions on Women Only days (although you will always be asked on booking a treatment if you have any preference for a male of female practitioner).
A few tips
Whilst using the facilities, it's a good idea to pin your locker key to your towel. All the towels look the same so it will help you keep track of yours.
As you leave please place your used towels and robes in the laundry basket in the reception area, but do remember to check your robe pockets for belongings.
Please remember to hand in your locker key at reception when you leave!
